A huge square and building built for the "Exposicion Ibero Americana" in 1929 that was supposed to strengthen the trade between Spain and the US. But sadly almost no one came due to the financial crisis hitting hard exactly in 1929.
The whole square and the building was planed to represent Spain with a water surrounding almost the whole square like water surrounds the Iberic half-island and there is a part of the wall of the building dedicated to each Spanisch region.
Adjacent to the Plaza de España is the rather big and really beautiful Parque de María Luisa. The perfect place to cool down on a hot day, stroll around and just relax.
